Celebrating International Dot Day on Social Media & in the Workplace

Today is September 15, 2014 and it also happens to be International Dot Day. The day was named after the classic Peter H. Reynolds storybook The Dot. The book is available in English and many other languages. It shares the story of a girl who begins a journey of self-discovery after her teacher challenges her to “make her mark”.

International Dot Day was invented to encourage people of all ages to harness their creativity. The hope is for as many people as possible to join the growing global community of creativity champions and use their talents, gifts and energy to move the world to a better place.

As well, you can search #DotDay hashtag on Twitter and see what the experts are saying and doing to celebrate this very auspicious occasion.

In honor of this day, I challenge you to make creativity the number one priority in your workday today. Let’s also do our part to honor someone’s creative mind and acknowledge their good will. And remember, as organization’s environments are in a continual state of change, innovation and the ability to creatively adapt to change become important aspects of effective leadership and success. Employee creativity makes a valuable contribution to the overall organizational performance, effectiveness and continued existence.
