Scottish singer, Caitlin McNeill and Sarah Weichel are the most talked about people on social media. Why? Last Wednesday, Caitlin innocently shared an image of a dress on her Tumblr account under the name, “Swiked”. Shortly after the post went live, Sarah Weichen found herself inundated with comments about the lace flock because her Twitter handle was @swike and Instagram name was @swike.
“Guys please help me – is this dress white and gold, or blue and black? Me and my friends can’t agree and we are freaking the f**k out,” she wrote next to the picture. In just two days, the post has garnered over 21 million views. As well, the post went viral on major social media channels, such as Twitter and Facebook, and is trending under the hashtag #TheDress.
Online users, news channels and celebrities alike also joined the debate over the true color of the dress, predominately voicing support for either of the opposing sides: blue and black VS white and gold.
The iRISEmedia Digital Marketing team did the tech-savvy thing and joined the debate. We asked our team members a simple question: “What colour is this dress?”. Here is what each of them had to say.
What Colour is the Dress?
The dress is actually Black and Blue and is sold by the British clothing retailer Roman Originals. You can buy the blue-black dress here. #TheDress has turned out to be a great social media marketing twist for the company!
